Dawn Gibbins MBE, Group Founder & CEO: the visionary who believed in the Barefoot concept and brought it to life.

Dawn's career achievements include the award of an honorary doctorate from Manchester Metropolitian University in 2004, the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year accolade in 2003 and an MBE in 1994. She has also been made a ‘Pioneer to the Life of our Nation’ by Her Majesty The Queen in 2004.

At the age of 22 Dawn started Flowcrete with her late father, Peter Gibbins.

She oversaw its growth to become a global market leader in commercial and industrial flooring with 30 offices worldwide and 12 manufacturing sites of excellence in the UK, Asia, Sweden, Belgium, South Africa, US and Brazil.

Just six months after its multi-million pound sale, Dawn has now turned her attentions to a different kind of business. She has branded Barefoot Floors which embraces her love of flooring with her passion for health and wellbeing.

Not for Dawn the security of a conventional, hum-drum life. Her motto of 'Dare to different' is something she keeps close to her heart. She's an energetic person who loves to experience life to the full, whether its dancing all night to reggae music, experiencing nature's wild and wonderful world, or whooping it up at a party with the people she knows and loves.

Dawn's main enthusiasms?  Her two beautiful daughters, April and Michelle who she says enrich her life and lend it greater meaning, and an amazing mum, Vera Gibbins, who at 80 still tramped around Tatton RHS show without once begging her to slow down!

Dawn lives and breathes healthy living, and regularly jogs round the Cloud (a hill near to where she lives) with her dogs Simba, Titch and Tiny. A desire to connect with people means she thoroughly enjoys guest speaking. As well as this, her enthusiams include art and drawing in charcoal. Creative people are a source of great inspiration and excitement for her, as are all her family and friends, and colleagues, and animals and… wow, isn't life exciting!
