Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)How do I clean my floors, particularly when we have dogs with muddy paws? Hot /Cool Rocks will clean with conventional cleaning methods and products. Excess fluids can be mopped dry or withdrawn with a domestic floor cleaner. Dirt / wines / or food stuff will not stain the Rocks.
Is there a weight problem/restriction installing stone carpets on an upper floor? Hardly ever is there a weight problem – and anyway, we always conduct a survey first to ensure everything is OK. (For the technically minded Hot Rocks and Cool Rocks have a gross weight of 17 kg per m2 when applied at a nominal 8mm thickness)
Does the existing floor have to be perfectly flat before installation? Few floors are perfectly flat and there is usually no issue (8mm or less thickness of floor will follow the contours of any sub base, if that means anything). Again, after our survey, we will advise you if there are any leveling requirements.
Can it be installed around existing fitted furniture? Yes, that is no problem at all. We are often asked to lay flooring around already fitted units.
How long does it take to install a typical floor, and how long before it can be used? A typical floor will takes two days to install, and can be used on the third day.
How long are the floors guaranteed? And is the guarantee transferable to the next owner if I were to move? Our system is guaranteed for 10 years, and is transferable
How can I prevent floors being scratched? Smoothie systems can be made even more scratch resistant by adding a maintenance coat of Metalised Emulsion. This is applied by Mop as part of its cleaning process.
If a Smoothie should be damaged in a small area, can it be repaired easily, or does it mean a complete re-flooring? No problem, If any Barefoot floor is damaged it can be repaired locally without re-
Is it cold to walk on? The floors are not at all cold to walk on as they will absorb some of the air temperature. And, of course, underfloor heating is compatible with all of our systems.
In a garage, do oil, petrol, antifreeze etc spills present a problem? Garage spills are easily wiped of our Cocktail range – that’s why they are particularly at home in the garage
When being laid (the floor that is), is it necessary to remove the skirting boards first? It is not necessary to remove the skirting
Can the floors be laid on top of floorboards, or does it have to be a solid base? All of our floors can be applied onto wooden floorboards. We apply a special flexible membrane to help counter the sub floor movement.
Is underfloor heating possible with Barefoot floors? Sure is – and we can apply either water-fed UFH or Electric.
Can it be DIY installed? No, it can only be installed by our highly trained craftsmen.
Do you do a free survey for suitability etc before I am committed? We offer an optional, no obligation, survey before you ever decide whether to sign up for anything
From the moment I register interest, what is the typical process and when do I become committed? From first interest, we would discuss the suitability of your current floor base and make sure you are selecting a suitable product range for what you want to achieve. Then all we have to do is agree the contract and the date for installation. Painless!
